Yaśōdā soothes him: "[When I beat you for eating earth,] you cried so that all the heavens could hear, and when I looked eagerly into your mouth for it, I saw all the worlds there, and in my heart I was afraid and thought, 'This is Madhusūdana [the Lord of all].' There is no wound at all; your ear will only fold a little; bear it and stay still a moment, perfect one. Kaṇṇā, my rain-cloud in your giving, you coloured like the sea, my protector, drink at the breast!"
