Yaśōdā calls: "There is a word going round that Kaṃsa, bearing a grudge against you, has sent a dark demoness with red hair [Pūtanā] to deceive you; you who stand at walled Tiruveḷḷaṟai with its jewelled mansions where the clouds creep, I am afraid while you stand out there: handsome one, come and let me perform the rite of protection over you!"
