In plain words
Kaṇṇaṉ, says Yaśōdā, I bathed you till you shone like gold, fed you, and went off [to bathe in the Yamunā]; and before I was back you had kicked the strong, heavy cart so that it shattered, gone into the house to the north and stayed there, and left a young girl with a waist slender as lightning changed in form [by the marks of your embrace]. You who love so wildly, I know you now for what you are [the Lord, not my child]. I am afraid to give you my milk.
