In plain words

The poet tells: When the young women saw the throng in which Gōvinda was coming home with his companions, with peacock-feather sunshades and canopies crowding everywhere, drums, the one-stringed ekkam and tabors, long pipes hung with peacock feathers, flutes and song filling every quarter, they said, "Can it be a rain-cloud coming?" Clinging to the lattice windows, some pressing in for love and some standing still for fear of their elders, all along his way they let their hearts go after him and quite forgot to eat.
