In plain words
The poet, to the Lord: O you who guarded [the cows and cowherds] from the rain with the lovely great hill as an umbrella, O Madhusūdana, O Kaṇṇaṉ, O you who freed the elephant [Gajēndra] from the grip that seized it, O Cause of all, O Benefactor who killed the tusker [Kuvalayāpīḍa], O you who root out the troubles of those who ever think of you, O you of great fame that no praise can reach: grant me the good of taking refuge in you and praising you day after day, O my Lord.
