Remembered

When the seer Agastya welcomed Rāma, the prince of Ayodhyā, and Sītā, his wife, to his hermitage in the forest, he spoke of how it is the way of women to cling to a man while his fortunes stand and to leave him when they fall, and then he said of Sītā, But your wife is free of all such faults. She is worthy of praise, and worthy to be held up as an example, like the holy Arundhatī.

When the princess Śāntā served her husband, the seer Ṛśyaśṛṅga, in the forest, she served him with love, as Arundhatī served Vasiṣṭha, as Lopāmudrā served Agastya, as Damayantī served Nala and as Śacī served Indra. And when a wise woman in heaven told another woman how she had lived, never waking her husband from his sleep, never troubling him with the household's cares, keeping the house's secrets and keeping it clean, she ended by saying that a woman who keeps to this path is honoured among women in heaven, like Arundhatī.
