In plain words
The poet, to his heart: The days go by like saws cutting life away; sickness wears the body down, old age comes, and the day of death is near. So, O my heart, bow and praise; and, beyond that, know well that to be his servant is the true good. The feet of Māl alone must grant the joy of service from which there is no return.
