The works of Ādi Śaṅkarācārya

Advaitānubhūtiḥ

Verse 26

पिष्टादिगुलसम्पर्काद्गुलवत्प्रीतिमान्यथा ।आत्मयोगात्प्रमेयादिरात्मवत्प्रीतिमान्भवेत् ॥ २४ ॥

In plain words

Ingredients become sweet through contact with sweetness. In the same way, objects seem dear only because they borrow their felt value from the Self.

Close to the Sanskrit

Just as flour and the like become pleasant through contact with the sweet substance, so objects of knowledge and the like become pleasing through association with the Self, as though possessing the Self's own dearness.
