The works of Ādi Śaṅkarācārya

Advaitānubhūtiḥ

Verse 55

In plain words

Look at the sun's image lying in water: it shines there as though it were some second sun of its own. In just that way the ātman's reflection shines in the intellect, as though it were someone other than the ātman.

Close to the Sanskrit

Just as the water-sun in the water shines forth as if other than the sun, so the reflection of the Self shines in the intellect as if other than the Self.
