The works of Ādi Śaṅkarācārya

Mohamudgaraḥ

Verse 7

In plain words

As a child, you cling to your games. As a young man, you cling to a woman. As an old man, you cling to your worries. To the supreme Brahman — nobody clings at all.

Close to the Sanskrit

The child, for that while, is attached to play; the young man, for that while, is attached to a young woman; the old man, for that while, is attached to worry — to the supreme Brahman, no one at all is attached.
