The works of Ādi Śaṅkarācārya

Nirguṇamānasapūjā

Verse 22

In plain words

The hand is smeared with the leftovers of ignorance; wash it clean with the water of knowledge. Hold that in mind as the hand-rinsing offered to the ātma-liṅga, which was always spotless.

Close to the Sanskrit

The washing, with the water of knowledge, of the hand soiled by the leavings of ignorance — that one should call to mind as the hand-rinsing of the wholly pure ātma-liṅga.
