The works of Ādi Śaṅkarācārya

Praśnottararatnamālikā

Verse 36

In plain words

What should people keep remembering? The name of Hari, always — not the foreign tongue. And what should a clear mind never say aloud? Another person's faults — and a lie, just the same.

Close to the Sanskrit

What is to be remembered by people? The name of Hari, always — not the Yāvanī tongue. What indeed is not to be spoken by one of good intellect? Another's fault, and untruth likewise.
