In plain words

Supreme liberation is attained by the individual soul solely through the direct realization of the identity between the inner self and Brahman, preceded by deep inquiry. It is never accomplished through ritual baths, chanting, repetitive prayers, harsh fasts like the cāndrāyaṇa, grand Vedic sacrifices, charitable gifts, scriptural study, or ritualistic practices.

Without the awakening to the oneness of both preceded by the inquiry into the inner Brahman, absolute liberation of the person having the characteristic of identity with supreme Brahman is not accomplished. Neither by ritual baths, nor by chanting, nor by repetitions, nor by difficult cāndrāyaṇa penances, nor even by sacrifices, oblations, charity, Vedic texts, nor by mantras and tantras.
