In plain words
The one who wants freedom must take up both of these, and take them up with real effort, so that the inverted notion comes to a stop. Once that is actually done, the false conviction turns back and falls away.
Close to the Sanskrit
By the seeker of liberation the two are to be performed with effort, for the cessation of the contrary notion; when this has been done, there is the turning back of the contrary conviction.
