। ॥ १ ॥
In plain words
You with the moon in your hair; Madanāntaka, who brought Madana, the god of desire, to his end; you with the trident in your hand—Sthāṇu, unmoving; lord of the mountain; Girijā's own; great Lord; Śambhu, source of well-being. Lord of every living thing, you who destroy the fear of the frightened: I have no one else. Pull me out of this trackless jungle of saṃsāra and its sorrow—Lord of the world, protect me.
