। ॥ ३१ ॥
In plain words
Nearest of all as your own inner self, and known only at second hand; complete on every side, and yet with a second standing beside it — these cancel each other. So here you must read by implication, and by nothing else.
Close to the Sanskrit
Inwardness and remoteness, and fullness on all sides and the having of a second — mutually contradictory; therefore here one must indeed proceed by implication (lakṣaṇā).
