The works of Ādi Śaṅkarācārya

Svātmaprakāśikā

Verse 36

In plain words

What they call the causal body is nothing but avidyā, beginningless not-knowing — that and nothing more. I am not that body either. I am light that needs no other light, and nothing has ever stained me.

Close to the Sanskrit

Beginningless nescience alone is here called the causal body. I am not the causal body either; I am self-luminous, stainless.
