The works of Ādi Śaṅkarācārya

Svātmaprakāśikā

Verse 61

In plain words

Sleep, as those who know define it, is the intellect sinking away into ignorance. But in me ignorance itself has dissolved, and with it everything ignorance made. So how could sleep happen here?

Close to the Sanskrit

When there is dissolution of the intellect in ignorance, that is called sleep by the knowing ones. In me, in whom ignorance and its effects have dissolved, how could sleep be?
