The works of Ādi Śaṅkarācārya

Svātmaprakāśikā

Verse 70

मूढबुद्धिपरिव्याप्तं दुःखानामालयं सदा ।बाल्यं कोपनशीलान्तं न मे सुखजलाम्बुधेः ॥ ६७ ॥

In plain words

Childhood — soaked through with a mind too clouded to tell anything apart, a standing pool where every sorrow settles, finishing in nothing but a quick temper — childhood is not mine. I am the ocean whose water is bliss.

Close to the Sanskrit

Pervaded by a dull intellect, always the abode of sorrows, ending in an irascible disposition — childhood is not mine, who am the ocean whose water is bliss.
