। ॥ ८ ॥
In plain words
Indra's wife stands behind her, braiding her hair. Brahmā's faithful wife smooths keen, fragrant sandal paste over her limbs. Lakṣmī, Viṣṇu's beloved, the jewel among women, sets her glittering ornaments in place. I worship her — Mother of all the worlds — whose serving girls are the young brides of the gods.
Close to the Sanskrit
Her for whose hair-braiding Indra's wife is the lady's maid; her who delights in the anointing with keenly fragrant sandal paste by Brahmā's faithful wife; her who has the jewel-bright, glittering adornment carried out by Mukunda's beloved, the gem among women — I worship the Mother of the worlds, whose serving maids are the young brides of the gods.
