साधन पञ्चकम्अद्वैतपङ्चरत्नम् चवेदो नित्यमधीयतां तदुदितं कर्म स्वनुष्ठीयतांतेनेशस्य विधीयतामपचितिः काम्ये मतिस्त्यज्यताम् ।पापौघः परिधूयतां भवसुखे दोषोऽनुसन्धीयतामात्मेच्छा व्यवसीयतां निजगृहात्तूर्णं विनिर्गम्यताम् ॥ १ ॥

The Five Means; and the Five Jewels of Non-duality. — Study the Veda every day. Do the work it prescribes, and do it well. Let that work be your worship of the Lord. Drop the mind that works for a result. Scour off the whole flood of past wrongdoing. Look at what is wrong with worldly pleasure, and keep looking until you see it. Settle it, once and for all: what you want is the Self. Then walk out of your own house, and do it quickly.

By that, let worship of the Lord be rendered; let the mind directed toward result-seeking rites be abandoned. Let the flood of sin be scoured away; let the defect in worldly pleasure be traced out again and again; let the longing for the Self be firmly settled; let one go forth swiftly from one's own house.
