In plain words
Does one become a sufferer through the thought "I am suffering"? Or through seeing a sufferer? Or not at all? The sufferer is the assembled thing — limbs and all the rest. The seer only sees the suffering; he is in no way the one who suffers.
Close to the Sanskrit
Would he be a sufferer because of the conceit 'I am suffering', or because of the seeing of a sufferer — or not? In the aggregate [assembled] of limbs and the rest is the sufferer; the seer is the seer of suffering — he is in no way that [sufferer].
