प्राक्तनं गुणसंभारं ममेति बहु मन्यते ।यत्तु चित्तमतत्त्वज्ञं दुःखितं जीव उच्यते

That citta which, not knowing the truth, greatly esteems as 'mine' the store of qualities (guṇa) gathered from before -- that afflicted citta is called jīva.
