Prose passage 2

In plain words

Meaning: Brahman is bliss, eternal, light and all-pervading; it is the ground of name and form; the intellect does not know it, and it is what knows the intellect; it is pure and without limit. To say 'That Brahman am I' is this: the jīva, which is ahaṅkāra and is what the word 'aham', 'I', directly means, falls away, and what remains, shining as itself, is the consciousness of the Self alone, the implied meaning of 'aham'. That is Brahman. This is the sense. The same is found in Aruṇagiri's Anubhūti: "It swallowed me, who had become 'I', and stood firm as itself alone, the Supreme."

Word for word

Meaning: being bliss, being eternal, being light, being all-pervading, being the ground of name and form, being what the intellect does not know, being what knows the intellect, being pure, being boundless, the Brahman that is, whatever it is, that alone am I: when this is said, leaving the jīva-hood in the form of ahaṅkāra called 'I', which is the direct meaning of the word 'aham', the Self's consciousness alone, the implied meaning of that word 'aham', remaining and standing, shining as itself, is Brahman: that is the sense. This is gathered also from Aruṇagiri's Anubhūti, which says: "Swallowing me, who was 'I', it stood firm as itself alone, the Supreme."
