Prose-section 26
In plain words
The bliss sheath reflects Brahman’s bliss within a modification of ignorance. In waking and dream it appears as the pleasure of seeing something desired, the delight of acquiring it, and the fuller delight of experiencing it. Everyone knows some measure of these. Deep sleep gives a more pronounced, effortless experience; the good and discerning attain its full experience at all times. Even so, this sheath is conditioned: it belongs to prakriti’s modifications, is associated with an adjunct and is a fruit of merit. It is therefore distinguished from the supreme Self.
Word for word
The bliss sheath is a modification of ignorance joined with the reflection of Brahman’s bliss. It appears in waking and dream when what is desired occurs and is experienced in small measure by all beings as priya, moda and pramoda: joy arising respectively from seeing, acquiring and experiencing an object. It is experienced especially in deep sleep, where one daily enjoys bliss without effort. The good, discerning ones continually attain the full experience of this bliss sheath. Yet because it is qualified by an adjunct, a modification of prakriti, an effect of merit and included among changing aggregates, this bliss sheath also cannot be the supreme Self.
