In plain words

"So it is indeed, Maghavan," he said. "But I shall explain him to thee further, and there is nothing beyond this. Live here another five years." He lived there another five years, and they made a hundred and one in all. That is why men say, "For a hundred and one years Maghavan lived the life of a student of sacred knowledge with Prajāpati." And Prajāpati said to him:

In plain words

Saying 'As before,' the commentator speaks: 'That very Self which I explained in three rounds, and nothing else—that alone I will now expound to you. A slight trace of impurity still remains in you. To destroy it, live here for five more years.' Thus instructed, Indra did so. To him—whose defilements were cleansed, who was free from the flaws of the three states of consciousness, and who was fit for the pure nature of the Self, devoid of evil—he declared the truth. Those years reached one hundred and one. As people in the world say: 'Maghavan lived under Prajapati for one hundred and one years in student discipline.' This has been shown by the text beginning with 'thirty-two.' Stepping outside the narrative, the Upanishad itself now declares: Thus indeed, knowledge of the Self was attained by Indra himself through immense effort over one hundred and one years, an achievement grander than even the status of Indra. Therefore, there is no higher human goal than this; hence the scripture praises knowledge of the Self.

Saying thus 'Just as before,' he says: 'Whom I spoke of through three rounds, that very this Self and not another any whatsoever, what then, this very one I will explain. However, a very small defect remains of yours; for the destruction of that, dwell for other five years.' Thus addressed, he did so. To him whose impurities were rubbed away, free from connection with the defects of the three states, the true nature of the Self characterized by sinlessness and the like, to that Maghavān he truly spoke...
