बहूनामेमि प्रथमो बहूनामेमि मध्यमः ।किꣳस्विच्चमस्य कर्तव्यं यन्मयाच करिष्यति ॥ ५ ॥
In plain words
'Among many I go as the first; among many I go as the middling.' -- 'What indeed is …'s to be done, which by me … will be accomplished?' Śaṅkara takes the sense as 'what business is there of his [Death's] to be done, that he will now accomplish by means of me'.
