In plain words
Now the taking of the highest place. All the deities, disputing among themselves which was the better, went up out of this body; and it lay like a log. Then speech entered it: it spoke with speech, and still it lay. Then the eye entered it: it spoke with speech and saw with the eye, and still it lay. Then the ear entered it: it spoke with speech, saw with the eye and heard with the ear, and still it lay. Then the mind entered it: it spoke with speech, saw with the eye, heard with the ear and thought with the mind, and still it lay. Then the breath entered it, and at once it rose up. Those gods, having discerned that the highest place is in the breath, and having taken on the breath, the self of wisdom, went up together with all these out of this world; and having the wind for their support and space for their self, they went to heaven. Even so, he who knows thus, having taken on the breath, the self of wisdom of all beings, goes up together with all these out of this body; and having the wind for his support and space for his self, he goes to heaven. He goes where those gods are; and having reached that, he becomes immortal, with the immortality that the gods have.
