इति द्वितीयः प्रपाठकः ॥ते होचुर्भगवन्यद्येवमस्यात्मनो महिमानं सूचयसीत्यन्यो वा परः कोऽयमात्मा सितासितैः कर्मफलैरभिभूयमानः सदसद्योनिमापद्यत इत्यवाचीं वोर्ध्वां वा गतं द्वन्द्वैरभिभूयमानः परिभ्रमतीति कतम एष इति तान्होवाच ॥३.१ ॥

They said: "Sir, if thou dost thus point out the greatness of this Self, then who is that other, the further one, who, overcome by the bright and dark fruits of deeds, enters a good or an evil womb, so that, going downward or upward, and overcome by the pairs of opposites, he wanders about?
