In plain words

Therefore he who knows this Self as both meditates upon it in the Self alone and sacrifices in the Self alone. Meditation set upon its practice is a mind praised by the wise. It is a purifying of the mind, and what has been defiled by leavings is cleansed by this. He recites the verse: "Whatever is a leaving or defiled by a leaving, whatever is given by an evil man or comes from a death or a birth — may the purifier of the Vasus, Fire, and the rays of Savitṛ purify my food and whatever else I have done amiss." First he surrounds it with water; then he makes five offerings, saying: "To the out-breath, svāhā. To the down-breath, svāhā. To the diffused breath, svāhā. To the even breath, svāhā. To the up-breath, svāhā." Then he eats what is left, holding his speech; and afterwards he again surrounds it with water. Having rinsed his mouth and made himself the offering, let him meditate on the Self with these two verses: "Thou art the breath and the fire and the all" and "The breath, the fire, the highest Self, is present as the five winds. Being pleased, may he please the universe, the eater of the universe. Thou art the universe, thou art Vaiśvānara; by thee is upheld all that is born. Let all the oblations enter into thee, and all creatures, there where thou art the immortal universe." Thus, by this rule, he does not come again to be devoured.
