Bondage and freedom are both thoughts, and they both live off one sentence: 'I am bound.' Stop saying it and neither has anywhere to be. So look — who is bound? Not argue about it. Look. And what is standing there is what was always standing there: already accomplished, never once tied. The seeker's whole predicament turns out to have been a remark he kept making.

Only so long as one says 'I am bound' do the thoughts of bondage and liberation exist. When one looks, asking 'who is bound?', the Self, ever-accomplished and eternally free, abides. If that does not stand, would the thought of bondage and the thought of liberation stand before one? Fitting to the mind —
