In plain words
So: me — eternally pure, awake, free by my very nature, knowing everything, and the Self of every creature that breathes, being all this already —
The deluded, the ones without real discernment, look right past Me — worse, they hold Me in contempt, seeing only a man wearing a human body, someone going about his business in human form. What they miss is the supreme reality underneath: the truth of the highest Self, subtle as space itself — no, subtler still, more intimate than space could ever be. They don't recognize Me as the great lord standing behind every being, the one ruling over all of them, their own innermost Self. And that failure to see Me is exactly what wounds them. They aren't punished from outside — their own contempt is the blow. Poor, poor fools.

Thus me — whose very nature is eternally pure, awake, and free, all-knowing, and being also the Self of all living creatures —
The deluded, lacking discrimination, disregard Me, [that is,] they commit disregard and disrespect toward Me, [seeing Me as] having taken up a human, [that is,] a human-related, body — this means: [Me] conducting Myself by means of a human body — not knowing [My] supreme, [that is,] exalted, state, [namely] the truth of the Supreme Self, comparable to space, [indeed] more inward than space itself — [not knowing] Me as the great lord of beings, the great Ruler of all beings, [their] own inner Self. And therefore, by this very disposition of disregard toward Me, they, the wretched ones, are struck down.
