Readers! Where did this sacred Dharma come from? For what purpose was it born? Reflect on this and inquire into it, and the importance of protecting it will become clear. God, by His own will, created this world, provided it with many systems, and, so that the systems He had provided would not fall out of order, spread fine regulations of Dharma through it. The word Dharma comes from the Sanskrit root “dhṛ”. ‘Dharma’ means that which bears. The cloth that is Dharma, there only to protect the body that is the nation and to bestow beauty and joy, is like a sacred pītāmbara that God has draped over Bhārat. Cloth does not only protect honour and dignity, and does not only shield from the pains of cold; it gives beauty too. What protects the dignity and honour of our body, that is Dharma. The resolve that the nation's honour, too, must be upheld by bearing Dharma, which is God's will: that resolve is the very standing of this Dharma. And not the nation alone: every single thing created in this world is covered with a cloth of dharma of its own.
