Passage 3

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

“Such sādhutva exists in cattle, in birds and in beasts. That is why, in the Rāmāyaṇa, He protected Jaṭāyu; He saved the King of Elephants; He blessed the monkeys; He loved the squirrel. Were not all these possessed of sādhutva? No one becomes a sādhu merely by wearing a garland round the neck, draping himself in ochre and holding a staff. More than dress and speech, a nature rich in good qualities is the chief mark of sādhutva. The quality called sādhutva is present in all living beings. So one must regard the protection of the world as itself the chief nourishing of the sādhus.”
