“But those who suffer the delusion that they are the jīva fall under its power. Those who have the vision of tattva pass beyond it; it cannot cover them. It hides the things of tattva from sight, but it cannot reach those who know tattva. Brother-in-law! Taking up what I said about Māyā, that it covers the very ones in whom, and where, it is born, you may ask, ‘Then can Māyā, born in You, not cover You as well?’ A doubt may arise. That does not hold. Māyā is the upādāna kāraṇa of the whole world. It is not the cause of the Lord of all. I am the master of Māyā; the world is the covering of Māyā. Māyā takes refuge in Me and stands under My command. And whoever takes refuge in Me and stays under My command, to them too Māyā becomes a servant and stands before them with cupped palms.”
