To relieve the distress of cold is the natural property of fire; even so, if a man does not sit near it but stays far away, how will it relieve his cold? That it does not relieve his distress of cold does not mean that fire lacks the power. Just as one who wishes to be rid of the distress of cold must stay near the fire, so too those who wish to experience the fire of Jñāna that is Grace, and to put far from them their afflictions and chills, must become jñānis and strive to draw close to the Paramātma.
