“Brother-in-law! It is not valid to call a thing destroyed merely because the eye cannot see it. How so? If salt or sugar is put into water, it merges in the water and the eye can no longer see it. Would you call that destruction? Or would you call it laya? The taste of what you call destroyed is known through the water, is it not? How can you say it is not there? The formless tattva which, while it exists, makes known only its quality, is what is called laya. Like salt merged in water, the jīva merged with Brahman is also called laya. It never perishes. Thus those who have not attained Kaivalya but have performed meritorious deeds through karmas go to heaven and the other worlds, come back again, perform some sādhanas, and go on following their results.”
