In the 6th chapter, the 10th śloka, the Gītā declared that “parigraha is a great sin.” Those who truly hold the Gītā as their authority must surely practise that, must they not? No. Today ninety-nine out of every hundred Gītā preachers practise parigraha. Parigraha must not be accepted in any form at all; there is no limit to parigraha. 'Gītā-yajña', 'ārati-dakṣiṇā', 'expenses of the preaching society', 'gifts to the guru': so many names! Kṛṣṇa never said this! Just as people buy tickets and go to plays and cinemas, today they give Gītā lectures and sell them under the name of 'dakṣiṇā'.
