Whether they are Gītā preachers or Gītā reciters, they must give its content a place in the heart, take it up in practice and so attain Ānanda. Learning the ślokas by heart, setting the book on seats in worship rooms and worshipping it, pressing it to the eyes and bearing it on the head: none of these makes the impurity within us vanish. Such acts are no more than outward courtesies; the impurity does not go.
