In plain words

But Sītā will not be caught by those forms. If your whole aim is that Sītā be caught by you, that Sītā be yours, then if you take on Rāma's own form, can you not easily win Sītā over!” So she told him a plan. Then Rāvaṇa said, “When I have taken on Rāma's form, why would these unholy qualities come to me?” So, he said, when one takes on Rāma's form, Rāma's feelings alone come, and Rāvaṇa's feelings do not. It is good, today, to follow this ideal that Rāvaṇa told. That is, since we have taken on the form that says ‘we are human’, human qualities alone must come to us; monkey qualities or demon qualities must not get into us. Because we talk beyond all bounds, thinking our cleverness is great, and go on to behave beyond all bounds, for that very reason we are losing all three: vijñāna, prajñāna and sujñāna. Viveka and discernment are the chief marks of man. Fear of sin, Prema for merit, respect for elders: only when there is humility and alertness in this way does the radiance called divinity grow in humanness. Weighing place, time and person, the Viveka in man, in a most sacred way, brings our humanness too into play: what kind of respect or humility to offer to which person, in which place. Holding to this very point,

Food, sleep, fear and mating are common to men and beasts; Jñāna is man's special distinction; empty of Jñāna, he is equal to the beasts.

So, since such sacred Jñāna is in man, we must bring humanness into our life, into our conduct. In that same Rāmāyaṇa, Hanumān's distinctive conduct gives us a fine teaching. When he came near Rāma, Hanumān became wholly obedient and went on treading close in His footsteps. What is the reason Hanumān was so humble and obedient before Rāma? Rāmo vigrahavān dharmaḥ. Because Rāma is the embodiment of Dharma, Hanumān stood humble before Rāma. When that same Hanumān went to Laṅkā, Rāvaṇa, sitting on his throne: ‘Monkey! You sit down below,’ he said; at that, Hanumān grew his tail ten times higher still than Rāvaṇa and sat above him.
