In plain words
‘How is our boy behaving?’ So you must set about the effort to make some change in your work. Otherwise, if you stay this way only for as long as you are here, and the moment you go there you start the very same old habits, then the parents too are disheartened: ‘What use was it, our boy going to the summer course?’ Not only this: all your old friends will be there. Wandering about whistling, wandering off to the cinemas, wandering the bazaars like dogs: even such friends should say, ‘What a change has come over this fellow since he went to the summer class and came back!’ You must show your sacred conduct before them too. But if it goes ‘Hello, hello’ here and, the moment you get there, ‘Come on, come on’, then our whole summer class goes like a tyre punctured at one stroke, and all the purity we took into ourselves is spoiled. See that you do not become like that. Now get up and take part in today's programme. Without talking too much, absorb your mind in your own tasks alone, carry out the work in hand wholeheartedly and in a good spirit, follow from today the discipline I have told you of, and set about giving some satisfaction to Swami and to yourselves. Once Swami alone is content, the whole world is content. Set yourselves to that. Do not labour for your own petty satisfaction. Every single thing Swami says is for the good alone. There is nothing of Swami's own interest in this at all. Keeping in view the principle of life, keeping in view the progress of your future, keeping in view the fulfilment of your life, Swami is giving all these teachings. There is not one thing that I want. Each one of you has known the Prema of only one mother. But Swami's Prema is like the Prema of a thousand mothers. No parents at all wish for your good, your progress, your welfare as much as this. Feel in your heart that Swami wishes this for you in so many ways, and from now on at least set about practising it well. Get up.
