Passage 2

In plain words

Prakṛti is without beginning. She is an aged woman, beyond every reckoning of age. She would never be parted from Puruṣa, not even for a moment. This Prakṛti is a great pativratā who never leaves Puruṣa for a single moment. Her beauty? It is beyond description. Her power and capacities are beyond all comprehension. The moment carelessness arises, She throws you down into bewildering saṃsāra. Even great souls: if for a single moment they take a wrong turn away from the thought of God, She catches them in bondage in a moment and puts them through many kinds of hardship. Do we come under the sway of such a Mother Prakṛti, or does Mother Prakṛti bring us under Her sway? Which of these is primary is the matter we must decide today.

Only Vairāgya Joined with Jñāna Is the Path to Mokṣa

No pot without clay, no ornament without metal, no cloth without thread, no Prakṛti without Brahman: this is the truth that this Prakṛti has been teaching us. So for us to think and imagine Prakṛti as one thing and the Paramātma as another is nothing but a sign of Ajñāna. The one who sets out to keep Prakṛti under control and make our sacred life shine forth in it has nothing but victory, always. But the one who has come under Prakṛti's sway keeps falling, always, into straits where he must sink down under the three afflictions. Whoever wants to win success in any work at all in the world can win success in it only when he has brought Prakṛti under control. But Prakṛti is not the property of the people, nor is She the property of any one person. Prakṛti is the property of the Paramātma. Once we have obtained the Paramātma's leave, we have the proper right to enjoy this Prakṛti. When we set out to enjoy Prakṛti having won God's grace, Prakṛti yields to our wishes and sets out to give us the Ānanda that is fitting. Today we forget God, who holds authority over Her; we want Prakṛti alone, we trust in Prakṛti alone, and we put our effort into enjoying this Prakṛti, and because of that we meet with defeat in it.
