In plain words

Did not Hariścandra, who ruled the earth in the unfailing greatness of Satya, leave this earth and go?

Even though we have amassed every kind of power and capacity in the world, someday or other we cannot but leave it behind and go. So, not believing such a thing to be real, we must believe with all our heart in God, who is Satya, and through that make the effort to enjoy this unreal world.

Did the glorious King Nala, who ruled all the worlds in splendour, take the earth along with him when he went? Did Māndhātā, the ornament of the Kṛta age, tie up his wealth in a bundle and carry it away? Śrī Rāma of old built the bridge over the ocean; is He on the earth now? How many, many kings have gone! Not one of them takes this earth along with him. Will you alone tie your kingdom to your head and carry it off, O Dharma-hearted one!

But when they left this world, they gave the world sacred, everlasting, true ideals. So only when what we give is sacred do we truly become those who have lived, even though we leave this body and the world; but if instead we live on planning harm to the world and doing wrong to the world, this can be called only a living death. So, since we have taken this sacred human birth, since we were born in this world, in this society, in such circumstances, doing even a little good and experiencing even a little good before we leave the body: in that lies the fulfilment of this birth.
