In plain words
The path of karma is a footpath you can never leave; the path of Bhakti, an easy cart-track; Jñāna, if you look into it, is a journey by aeroplane; and Yoga, is it not a ship that sails over the ocean!
For the miser who cannot enjoy any happiness, however much wealth he has, what fruit is there! However full the stream runs for the dog that laps water, the skinflint will find no joy!
Students, embodiments of the sacred Ātma!
Whatever thing in the world we try to win, we must first develop Prema for that thing. Only when there is Prema and śraddhā do we make the fitting efforts either to win such a thing or to keep it safe. Where there is no Prema and no wish, we neglect anything at all, and we do not take that much care either for its welfare or for its safety. With this very thing in view, the Bhagavad Gītā uttered the three words “jñātuṃdraṣṭuṃtatvena praveṣṭuṃ”. Now, jñātum: we must enquire. What must we enquire into? Who am I? What is this world? What is Brahman? First of all, we must make the effort to recognise that all things, every one of them, are the principles of jīva, Īśvara and Prakṛti. But, having enquired and come to know our own principle, are we satisfied merely by that?
