Passage 1

In plain words

When we see little babies lying carefree and fearless in their mother's lap, when we see the radiance and the calm of that lotus face where joy dances, what Śānti, what happiness! Envy and jealousy, lust and anger, attachment and hatred, Ahaṅkāra and vain show, which rob man of his Śānti and Ānanda, find no way into a baby's heart. A baby has no fears and worries about the future. Even if the sky broke and fell on it, that would not disturb its Śānti; it lies happily in its mother's lap.
