In plain words

Tormented terribly, harried by cruel beasts, in the end they become food for those cruel animals. In the same way, when tiger-like evil qualities and leopard-like evil qualities enter a man of sāttvic qualities, a man of holy heart, a man of divine heart, they try to devour all that is sāttvic in him; students, embodiments of Prema! The human heart is a heart to be filled always with holy feelings, with pure thoughts and with a selfless spirit of service; yet at this age we let evil feelings into it, gather evil qualities and build up evil resolves, and by these we are rooting out our humanity. We are hurting the hearts of others. These are simply not the natural deeds of human beings. Truly, if we cannot recognise the torment, the pain or the hardships of other beings, we are living in a state of cruelty.

A man in the depths of sorrow goes to one who is blind and deaf, telling his grief in many ways, weeping, beating his breast. Though he beats his head, to this blind man, to the deaf one, no pity comes at all. Why? He has no ears to hear the man's anguish. Beating the breast, striking the head as if to break it: he has no eyes to see such sights. However many ways the man makes known his grief, his anguish and his pain, the one who is deaf and blind will not stir to give any answer. Because we gather mean feelings into our hearts, because we cannot recognise the hearts of others at all, because we are filled with Ahaṅkāra and selfishness, we stoop to acts like these. We must shape the heart like a mirror. What is the nature of a mirror? It is just this, to show within itself the reflection of the thing before it; but when our heart is a clean mirror, the pain of the one before us, his torment and his hardship can be reflected clearly in the mirror of our heart. When the mirror of a man's heart is full of evil qualities and grime, the pains, hardships and sorrows of the one before him cannot be reflected in that heart. So today it is most urgent that you students shape your hearts into a spotless mirror.

Then alone will the sufferings of society, the troubles and losses of the country, and the torments of parents become things we can recognise. How much our parents suffer for our progress: we are turning into fools who cannot recognise this Satya. How much turmoil is arising in society today because of students:
