Passage 8

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

Because His Prema grew, melted and flowed, He took shape as the One full of compassion. So today we must take this Prema for Kṛṣṇa as our true thirst. The thirst man should have is Prema for Kṛṣṇa alone. In this Prema there is no selfishness at all. The principle of Prema in all beings is Kṛṣṇa. Only when we spread compassion towards all is that tapas. But if through this principle of Prema we suffer its burning, that turns into tapas. Tapas does not mean merely going into the forest, holding the nose, flanks heaving, grazing on leaves and grass, giving up food, tormenting oneself in many ways and falling ill. To suffer the burning for the sake of Prema for Kṛṣṇa: that is true tapas. To develop this kind of principle of Prema day by day and dedicate our life as a jīva to divinity: this is the mark of true supreme Bhakti. Embodiments of the divine Ātma! We are doing sādhana in many ways. We cannot recognise the inner meaning in these sādhanas. However many sādhanas we do, they are all to be offered up in divine Prema. Many times I have said, ‘Of all learning, the learning of the Self’; so all our sādhanas, too, flow on like small streams. All of them are bound to reach the ocean called the Prema of God. ‘Nadīnāṃ sāgaro gatiḥ.’ As all rivers merge in the ocean, all paths merge in the principle of God's Prema itself. So we must take this Prema to be the Prema of the Ātma that is in all, and try to love everyone.
