In plain words

Embodiments of Prema! For five whole days the programme at Prasanthi Nilayam has gone on without a pause. Yet these five days have passed like five moments. Time is slipping by without our knowing it. What is the reason? Because the Manas is absorbed in the thought of God, who is beyond time, in His stories and in the programme, time slips by without our knowing it. Just as rivers that join the sea take on the form of the sea, so the Manas joined to the thought of God takes on the very form of God. The whole world is the vast, collective form of God. In every person divinity shines, unseen and immeasurable. To make manifest through good company the divinity and purity that lie hidden in man is itself the fruit of sādhana. On the day we dedicate our time, our body and our karma to the effort of making manifest the divinity that dwells hidden and secret in man, on that very day our individuality finds its fulfilment. It becomes possible for every person, too, to experience the divinity that lies within humanness.

Strive to recognise the inward principle of the Ātma

But today man has been following the opposite path. He tries to learn what is happening in America and in England. He can even find out what the earth is and what the heavens are. But he cannot recognise who he is, what his own principle is, what his own svarūpa is, and he cannot make the effort to find out. The system of education itself is the root cause of all this. Because today's system of education has no ideas of morality, of Dharma or of the spirit at all, he cannot make the effort to recognise what his humanness is. He strives to grasp the form of the physical world in all its kinds.

He chants his mathematics, never forgetting it, he will not look toward the gaṇita śāstra; he looks with care into the way to America, but the way to Kāśī he cannot see; he searches out the whole of algebra, but the breadth of his house he will not know; every day he keeps to his drill, but it pains him to sit in padmāsana; he knows botany in plenty; the tulasī's use he does not know, this man.

Today's studies are turning into this kind of chaos. So, to recognise our own divinity, it is most urgent to study the knowledge of the Ātma. The knowledge of the Ātma is no special research or toil.
