Passage 5

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

You strengthen your faith in petty little matters, but you are not ready to believe in the divinity that is holy, that is the support of life, that is the very key. So, first and foremost, faith in the Ātma is essential. Only when there is faith in the Ātma is there the Ānanda of the Ātma. Only when you can attain that Ānanda of the Ātma can you become one who has renounced all attachment. Only when you have renounced all attachment will the Lordship of all be yours.

Embodiments of Prema! Today you are celebrating My birthday and enjoying Ānanda. In truth I have no birthday at all. For your Ānanda and for your hopes I go on holding some programmes, but I have neither of the two. Only if there is birth is there death; only if there is death is there birth. I have neither death nor birth.

Embodiments of the divine Ātma! Try to give Me one gift for My birthday. I cannot help asking for this gift. What is that gift? Lessen your selfishness. Lessen your greed. Make your sacrifice grow. Become broad of heart. If you undertake sādhanas for this, you will have the chance to enjoy true Ānanda for coming here for this birthday and for taking part in this great gathering.
