In plain words
What is this rest? Lying down on a mattress, or sitting in a room and pleasantly turning one's own thoughts over: that is not rest. change of work is rest. Reading for a while, playing for a while, singing for a while, entering into many other sacred activities. The teachers must give them the enthusiasm and encouragement they need to take up such pursuits. Some perverse pursuits are also growing in these fields of education. In some institutions, we may say, the weakness of the government is the main factor. Here elections are spreading. They make the students' lives still more disordered. Students must not enter elections at all. Whoever, in every field, keeps to the highest level, with sacred feelings and right conduct, and earns his marks rightly, is the one we should appoint as the authority for this. These, as a rule, are the chief features that ought to be present in all institutions of learning. But in our Institute there is no place for any of this. In this institution there are, in large numbers, teachers of pure mind and students of sacred Prema. Our Institute is not without teachers who show the way and students who will build a royal road for the future. When such a good opportunity comes to us, it is most necessary to make good use of it. Teachers should not in the least regret that they are spending much of their time and their labour. We must not worry at all about the work load. When good students come to us, we should count it a great good fortune to spend our time well. Only when the teachers have such breadth of heart will the students' future rise to any height. Whatever the hour, when students come with their problems and troubles, we must be ready to set them right. In this matter we must not waste time. The moment a student meets a problem, we must be ready to resolve it.
